Winter is here!

We have more snow right now than we have had in several years. We just keep getting one storm after another and the snow just keeps piling up. It's crazy! But what can you expect when you live in Idaho. I think I'm ready to move south for the winter. Here are some pictures for your enjoyment. Hope you are wrapped up in a nice warm cozy blanket. You might want to go get a cup of hot chocolate to warm up after you see these.

The paper guy can't get into our box to deliver our paper.

This is behind our house.

Dont get lost Willy!

Can you find the propane tank?

Sadie hates the snow! Especially when she is in a tunnel of it!

It won't hurt my feelings one bit if Mother Nature decides to come for a visit early this year.

Thanks for all you did!

What a great man! He will truly be missed, but how lucky we are to have been alive while he was the Prophet. May we honor his memory by living the gospel that he taught us so well.

Someone emailed me this poem and I thought that I would share it with you.

I imagine he's running to Marjorie now, Yes, running, not waving his cane.
I see him embracing his father and mother,
While they keep repeating his name.
I see him now meeting his forebears, Brother Brigham and Joseph are there.
Sweet reunion of prophets, united by service That only such noble men share.
I see him embraced by the Savior while Father says, "Good and well done.
So faithful in stalwart endurance, I welcome My noble, most excellent son."
I then hear the ripples of laughter as he says the reception's just fine,
But he hopes that he'll get an assignment or two
Since there's no need to waste any time.
I can hear his clear voice in the stillness
At the close of this sweet Sabbath day,
Have faith and move forward, there's work to be done.
President Hinckley would want it that way.

God be with you President Hinckley til we meet again!

The "MomTest"

Ok I stole this from one of my friends blogs (thanks Alisha) and I wanted to share it with all of my blogging friends.

"I was out walking with my 4 year old daughter. She picked up something off the ground and started to put it in her mouth. I took the item away from her and I asked her not to do that. 'Why?' my
daughter asked. 'Because it's been on the ground, you don't know
where it's been, it's dirty, and probably has germs' I replied. At this point, my daughter looked at me with total
admiration and asked, 'Momma, how do you know all this stuff, you are so smart.' I was thinking quickly. 'All moms know this stuff. It's on the Mom Test. You have to know it, or they don't let you be a Mom.' We walked along in silence for 2 or 3 minutes, but she was evidently pondering this new information. 'OH...I get it!' she beamed, 'So if you don't pass the test you have to be the dad'. ''Exactly' I replied back with a big smile on my face."

Farmer Joe had a birthday!

Ok, so he's not a farmer but he loves to wear his bibs and so I call him "farmer Joe." BUT, he did have a birthday and he turned a big 55. Yes that's right - 55! And in case you are wondering - the answer is YES - he can now get in to the movie theater with the Senior Citizens discount. WOO HOO! That will save us some major money over the years. Ok so that's the only place. Everywhere else requires you to be 65. But hey we aren't going to argue with the movie theater if they think he is "old" we are going to agree whole heartedly. In fact we thought that maybe we will get him a walker or a cane and he can really look the part. But hey they get their buck back from us because now we can graduate up to a BIG popcorn and a BIG diet pepsi with the money saved. Oh the joys of getting older!

No time to Blog!

My life is kinda crazy right now and I haven't had time to do any blogging. I am a junior at BYU-Idaho and I am carrying 15 credits this semester. One of my classes requires some heavy duty research and so I spend ALL of my extra time doing that. It is intense. Plus I have a stack of books that I have to read for other classes as well. I love to read but I am SLOW. So in a nut shell - I have no life right now except keeping my nose stuck in a book!

And to top it off, I'm trying to plan a reception for Scott and Amy's wedding in March. SO needless to say - my blog is being put on the back burner for awhile. But keep checking back and I'll try to blog once in awhile. I do take time to stalk the rest of you and your blogs though so I can keep up on your comings and goings. And I may even leave a comment or two.

Tis the season. . .

This is the season of giving. I found a neat website that encourages everyone to do something nice especially on Mondays. Right now they are asking for people to send Christmas packages to our troops. They need to be mailed by Nov 30, so we don't have much time. If you are interested go to this website and you can see what it is all about and how to do this.

Lets start this wonderful holiday season right by remembering those who are ensuring us the freedom to be able to continue to celebrate these sacred holidays.

It's the most wonderful time of the year. . .

It's almost here. . .

The groceries are bought, the turkey is thawing, the baking begins today, the guests are invited and now it is just a waiting game. . .the countdown begins! In only a few hours. . .well a little over 24 to be exact . . .we will all set around our tables with our loved ones and enjoy a feast of turkey, mashed potatoes & gravy, sweet potatoes, stuffing, rolls, salads, veggies, cranberries, pie, pie and more pie! Have I forgotten anything?

Oh I can smell it already - can't you? I can't wait! It is so fun to cook, cook and do more cooking just so that we can all sit down and gorge ourselfs for 10-15 minutes, just in time to get up and spend the next half hour cleaning it all up, while all of the guys go in to watch football or take a nap. Thank heavens I have alot of girls in my family to help with all of the work!! I really can't remember a Thanksgiving when I have been able to just sit and enjoy TV all day. . . but hey. . . cooking and cleaning. . .thats more fun than screaming at the TV because your team isn't winning, right? I'm really not bitter - But I do think that I'm going to make my family sit for at least a little longer than usual and enjoy the moment together while enjoying filling their bellies. Thats only right. . . after I put in so many hours to make it perfect, don't you thing?

But really-it is a lot of work for just a few minutes of eating pleasure. I think it might be easier (at least for me) and maybe even cheaper to just go to Chuck-a-Rama. But hey, I guess it is all worth the effort because of course then we have ALL of the leftovers that we have to. . I mean get to eat for days and days. Just how many different ways can you fix leftover turkey? Turkey casserole, turkey soup, turkey sandwiches, turkey tacos!!!! Can you tell . . .I just can't wait!! I mostly can't wait for Friday when we can get up at 3am to go shopping and fight the holiday crowds to get the best deals in town, that are always sold out of by the time I get there! Yeah. . it's the beginning of the most stressful. . . I mean. . .the most wonderful time of year! Oh. . . I love the holidays!!

Really and truly, all kidding aside. . . have a great Thanksgiving, don't eat TOO much and do enjoy being with those special people in your life. Spend a few minutes in the midst of the fun to give thanks to Heavenly Father for all of your blessings.

And just be grateful that you aren't a turkey!!! Not a good day for them!!

I love beautiful sunsets. . .

So this afternoon we were just sitting down to eat dinner and I looked out the window and saw this AMAZING sunset. Those of you that know me know that I love taking pics of clouds, sunsets etc. So I ran and got my camera and headed outside. Since the wind was really blowing hard my camera was kinda shaking so they are kinda blurry but I still think you get the idea of how beautiful it was. The colors were spectacular reds, oranges, yellows, blues and purples. Of coarse the pictures never turn out as good as actually being there but these are pretty close.
